Morning Oppo. While participating in the weekly ordeal that is opposite side street parking u was pondering the universe and its mysteries. Whilst listening to Flight of the Conchords I thought how cool would it be to go auto racing! I looked up some races in the tristate area but I found all the different classes and race types too confusing for my donut filled mind. So I ask you, Oppo, where do the Tristate area Opponauts go auto racing and what kind of racing do y'all participate in? I have a 1984 300td and no racing experience, I like to think of myself as a fairly good driver but that could change once I see real drivers.

Thank you!

as far as i'm concerned, you had have a TON of fun auto crossing pretty much anything on budget of zero. with some bucks, a w123 300td can be turned into quite the smoke machine.

here's a more modern example.

I'd start with autocross for sure. The local chapter of the Corvette Club of America holds this one near me. Took my 240d around and surprisingly wasn't the slowest car.
